Mooney / Lungan / McIlweigh
(Feb 10
Red)
Hi All,
I'm looking for some more information on Catherine Lungan, who married John Mooney (Antrim Ireland) in Greenock Scotland on the 30th of April in 1855.
Catherines parents are listed as John Lungan labourer and Mary McIlweigh (extremely hard to find anything on that name!). Catherine states she was born in Greenock.
John Mooneys parents are listed as Richard Mooney and Susan Henry. I have found Census records 1851 Scotland that show John Mooney living in Drumfrocher Road, Greenock West with his parents Richard and Susan and siblings Maryan, Andrew, Sarah, Henry and Richard - all born in Ireland.
The wedding record shows that William Lungan, Margaret McLaghlan and someone else Reid (unable to determine first name) witnessed it.
I have also found the first child of their marraige Susan Mooney who was also born in Drumfrocher Road Greenock in 1855. John was noted as a Slater aged 24 and Catherine 20.
Eventually by 1861 John, Catherine and their daughter Susan had left Scotland for Austrlaia where John and Catherine had 9 more children including my G Grandfather.
Any information on any of the people named above would be greatly appreciated.
