red mail Dowsett, Sorrells,Searles of Moulsham Essex (Nov 08 Red)
If anyone can help me with information I would greatly appreciate it. I have James Dowsett b. abt 1803 married to Hannah Sorrells 1820 (Pallotts) born in Gt Baddow unknown exactly when born. One son Thomas Dowsett. James disappeared and Hannah married Samuel Quinn, on the marriage certificate her fathers name is William Searles a Brewer. We believe James may have been convicted in Colchester Court and transported to Tasmania for 7 years in Oct 1835 and it is probable that he had a brother Daniel who married a Susannah. I do not know which is the correct spelling Sorrells or Searles as Hannah was illiterate on her marriage certificate. I have been trying to find court information for Colchester in 1835 with no success. And have not been able to find any information on Hannahs father William Sorrells or Searles.
