Toseland, Wells, Hall, Gadsby, Peters, Knight, Merry etc
(Sep 09
Red)
I have traced my family tree back to 1625 and all the names listed are connected to it from Godmanchester and all the surrounding villages. Toseland, Wells, Hall & Peters are the main family names that I'm searching. The rest are linked into the family tree by marriage.
I do have some information on those mentioned above that are linked to my main family names, that I will sort and list here, it may help others with theirs.
Several yearsa ago I was the Founder of "The Toseland Clan Society" I still all the hundreds of records in volumes, all in alphabetical order.
Regards Fiona

Peacock/Merry
(Jul 09
Red)
My Great, Great Grandmother was Eliza Green (nee Merry) she married my Gr.Gr Grandfather John Green in October 1847 and they had 7 children, they lived in West Street, Godmanchester, however I believe John Green died at an early age and Eliza was remarried in October 1862 to William Peacock and they had a further 9 children. On the 1881 census they were all living in West Chadley Lane. William died in August 1884 age 52.
I would be very interested in any information regarding this

Greens of Chadley Lane
(Jul 09
Red)
I am currently researching my family history and was delighted to find my Great Grand parents house 11 Chadley Lane featured on the link to Searching for old houses on this forum.
I recently paid a visit to Godmanchester ( what a delightful place) and saw the house, but at the time did not realise it was the one I was looking for as I had an old photo from the 60's that my father had given me. I did however find my Gr grandparents graves just inside the gate of St Mary's - Harry & Delia Agnes Green.
My father has given me quite a lot of information that he can remember - he was a small child when he used to go to Godmanchester to stay with his Grandparents, but he did know that he had an Uncle Vince Green who lived at 9 Chadley Lane and James Hampton Green who lived at 7 Chadley Lane. He also remembers that his aunts Agnes Green and Eliza Green lived on Cambridge Road at either 50 or 54. Eliza's married name was Cousens (not sure of the spelling) and she had a son and a daughter called Paddy & Snooky (not sure if these were nicknames)
My father also says that his parents Violet Victoria Ward (nee Green) and Cecil Robert Ward lived at Letwell House in the 1920's.
I would love to know more if anyone can help putting missing pieces into the jigsaw.
many thanks
