CUNNINGHAM, WILKINSON, COONEY
I have mar. cert for Ellen Cunningham and George Wilkinson mar. at St. Marys Church in the parish of Gateshead on 17 July 1854. Ellen was 22yrs and George was 28yrs. George was a confectioner but later became a Licensed Victualler. They were both living at Prices Buildings? George's father was William Wilkinson a Weaver and Ellen's father was John Cunningham a Mason. Witnesses to their marriage were William and Margaret Cunningham ( husband & wife or brother & sister?) I would like to know more about Ellen & Georges parents and/or siblings plus WHERE was Prices Buildings and are there any pictures of the buildings? George and Ellen had a least one daughter but were there more? Their daughter Annie (Anna) Wilkinson married Joseph Cooney |
Corpus Christi Church and Bartram Gardens
Hello,
I'm researching where an Uncle and Aunty of mine got married. It was at Corpus Christi Church in Gateshead in the sixties. Does anyone have any old pictures from around that time or know anything about this church? Also, my Aunty came from 10 Bartram Gardens. Does anyone know anything about what this street was like in the fifties and sixties? I know about the family so just researching for pictures and the area.

Robert Wilson (b. 1790)
My ggg-grandfather, Robert Wilson (1790) was born in Gateshead but appears woth his family in the 1841 census of South Hylton. Robert was 49 at the time and his wife, Sarah, was 45. I was wondering if his father was shown in the 1841 census of Gateshead. His name was also Robert and I believe he was also a potter, as his son was. I think his wife's name was Anne or Ann. If anyone has access to the1841 Gateshead census, and if it is not too much trouble, I would be grateful if they would check the census for Robert Wilson b. c1765. |

St.Monica's Church,Carlisle
I think the TUCK family records should be in St.Monica's Church but have heard that the church was bombed in WW11 and not rebuilt. Does anyone know if all the records were lost? Oddly I cannot find the family in any but the 1881 census, either. Main search is for JOHN TUCK who married a MAGGIE (presumably Margaret) in the 1881 at 48-50 Berline St., Durham, father of John was ROBERT JOHN TUCK of Carlisle. |

Ketley, Congregationalist
I am interested in Joseph Ketley, an independent minister in Gateshaed in 1871. Joseph was born in Georgetown, British Guiana about 1830. His father, also Joseph, was involved in the campaign to abolish the slave trade. |
Carr family, Gateshead
My great grandfather was John Latham Carr, born in Gateshead in 1857. He moved to West Derby, Lancashire somewhere before 1879, where he married Emma White. It is likely that his parents were John Carr and Elizabeth Latham, who married in Newcastle in 1855. Because there are many people called John Carr around that time, can anyone shed any light on this particular John Carr, such as his parents (possibly John and Mary, but not certain) and/or his siblings? My granfather's middle name was Watson and I believe there was a female ancestor with the surname Watson, but in looking for her, I can only find a Mary Watson, who may have been married to a John Carr, but by my research so far, they would have had two sons both called John, neither of whom died in infancy! |
