Isabella Christie schoolteacher and grocer
(Mar 09 Green)
I am looking for information on Isabella Christie, who was born in Elgin in 1863, daughter of John Christie and his wife Helen Ellis. Isabella was a school teacher in Heisker, Lochmaddy and Kinloch Rannoch between about 1883 and 1897, after which she returned to Thomshill near Elgin to look after her mother. She had 5 brothers and sisters living with her mother in 1891, they were Elizabeth, John, Annie, George and Alex. Isabella took over her mother's grocer's shop in Thomshill after her mother died in 1900 and she stayed there until 1910. I would like to know what happened to Isabella after this.

(Oct 07
Red)
My Campbell family is:
John Campbell b. about 1819 - born Morayshire, (possibly Elgin) but parents and place of birth unknown. Died 07 April 1847 at Elgin.
John married Ann Matthew/Matthews (daughter of James Matthew & Jean Simpson) in Elgin on 25 May 1839. Ann was bapt. 18 Oct. 1814 at Elgin and died at 119 Dundee St., Edinburgh, aged 79 yrs.
Children of John & Ann were:
1. James Campbell b. 07 March 1840 Elgin. Died 10 Feb. 1904, Edinburgh. James married Ann McPherson 16 Jan 1866, in Carse of Ardersier, County of Inverness.
2. John Campbell b. 15 May 1841, Elgin. died 04 May 1870, New Elgin. Married but wife unknown.
3. Ann Campbell b. 15 Jan 1843, Nairn, Nairn.
4. Robert "Alexander" b. 01 Sept. 1844, Forres, Moray. Married Barbara Smart 03 Jan 1868, Leslie, Fife.
5. William Ferguson Campbell b. about 1847/1848 in Elgin.
It is believed that John Campbell had a brother Alexander who married Ann WINK of Elgin, Moray.
By 1871 this Campbell family had moved to Edinburgh. Mother Ann and daughter ran a grocery store, James was builder, John in the 93rd highlanders, Alexander owned a tailoring business and William was a cooper.
