red mail Henry Richardson COWAN Wheelwright/Coachbuilder (Apr 08 Red)
Keenly seeking photographs of the family or house of my grandparents, Henry Richardson COWAN (b. 1873 at Bow, Middlesex), Wheelwright/Coachbuilder and Fanny Esther COWAN nee PATTERSON (b. 1879 at Vauxhall, Surrey). They married at Thundersley, Essex in 1896 and settled in Eastwood about 1897. Henry worked at home and according to old maps the house was located somewhere near the corner of Southbourne Grove and the Arterial Road, then called Princes Avenue, Eastwood. I believe the house may have been one of the Pest Houses but am still uncertain about this, as an old map I have fails to clear up this location dilemma! In fact the family knew of the house as 'Pleaseant Place'. They had children Frederick Henry (b, 1898), Reginald Wilfred, Edwin Charles, Ernest William Robert, Arthur, Albert, Cecil Walter, Esther Fanny (b.1897) and my mother Edith May, born in 1915. I have absolutely no photographs of the family or house from this era and would love to have copies if someone knew this family?? or passed any photos down to descendants. Any help is very much appreciated. My mother is now 93 and the last of her generation. I would love to surprise her with some previously unseen photos! Cheers, Rob, Australia

red mail Brickworks (Mar 07 Red)
I would be very interested if anyone has any information about the brickworks that operated in Eastwood up until the 1960's. Does anyone know someone who worked in these brickfields, or does anyone have any pictures.I would be grateful for any information.
