red mail Frosts and Chapmans (Sep 08 Red)
My gg grandfather Joseph Frost b.c1849 Cowlinge had left the village by the 1871 census and eventually settled in London. He was the son of Edward Frost and Mary Ann Chapman both born in Cowlinge in 1824. Edward was the son of Joseph Frost (Cowlinge 1785?) and Elizabeth?(1791 Cowlinge). Mary Ann was the daughter of Thomas Chapman 1796 and Sally?/ Sarah? 1801. The family spent many years living in Lamb Fair Green and Hobbles Green, both still in existence.

Looking for any information about Dinah Argent and her family born 1821 in Newmarket St Mary, Cowlinge. I believe her parents were John Argent and Rebecca Webb but would like confirmation. Any info much appreciated. Thanks, Diane

John Gooch 1725-1788 is buried next to his wife Mary Brooks 1735-1815 in Cowlinge churchyard. I know a lot about their descendants, but does anyone know their ancestry?

green mail THOMAS CHARLES ROLLS (Aug 05 Green)
Thomas Charles ROLLS was born in Blandford, Dorset in Mar 1854. In 1881 he was a master at the newly established school in Cowlinge, together with his sister Catherine. In Jan 1884 he married Elizabeth Marrow, who was the village shopkeeper. Their family included Thomas Charles (1884), Violet Elizabeth (1885), Alice Mary (1887) and Mabel (1890). Neither the marriage or baptisms of these children took place in Cowlinge. In 1891 Elizabeth Rolls is shown as married and head of the household; it looks as if he has 'done a runner'and there is a new master at the school. Can anyone throw light on this intriguing mystery?

red mail Gooch (Apr 05 Red)
I have been tracing my Gooch family tree and have got as far as the 1700s in Cowlinge, but have now unfortunately drawn a blank. I am trying to find the death/burial date of John Gooch (wife Mary Brooks)and whether he was born and, if so when, in Cowlinge. I know that he and Mary married at Cowlinge Church and that they had a number of children, John, William, Samuel, Joseph and Sarah. I would be grateful for any help as I have been stumped for a number of years now and unfortunately many of the original records at the Records office in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, are unreadable.
