red mail SPERRING John (Oct 09 Red)
I believe John Sperring (my gggrandfather) was born in this pretty village, about 1817. Parish registers are available in Taunton, but not the weekend we were there! He left to go into the marines, but any information gratefully received

red mail King, Budgett, Watts and Steeds families. (Revised Sep 08 Red)
Looking for information about these families who lived in and around Compton Martin 18th - late 19th Century. They seem to have been closely connected by various marriages. The main Occupation was farming, but there were also a Master Carpenter/Builder, Edge Tool Maker, Sawyer, Tea Dealers, and Landlord of a White Horse Inn.
