MILITARY LINKS (Jan 05 Green)
Family hearsay says that RICHMOND HOUSE (b1853 Compton Dando)fought and was killed out in somewhere like Afghanistan. I suspect he probably joined the army between 1871 - 1881 as he's not listed anywhere on the 1881 UK census. Can anyone with local knowledge / military knowledge tell me what regiment he may joined (1871 - 1881)and do you know which campaigns that particular regiment took part in? Many thanks.

Interested in hearing from anyone who has connections with the surname 'HOUSE' from Compton Dando or nearby villages such as Burnett. My own ancestor George HOUSE born circa 1812 was an Ag. Lab. Married to Sarah Bowles, they had at least two children: Maria (b1849) and Richmond (b1853). George may have had an older brother named Charles House (b c1806).
