Military Box. 99th Reg of Foot.
(Oct 09 Green)
I have a Military box belong to 934 H Barkley, 99th Regt. I would like to trace his descendants, both father & son were named Hugh and in the Army, and might have been guards on the prison ship "Candahar" to Tasmania & Australia in 1842. I think Hugh Jnr may have married Lizzie Harriett Tadman in 1881, Medway. Hugh Snr may have died in 1924 Medway aged 68 yrs. Both Hugh Barkley's may have been born in Glagow, one was in the Royal Marine Light Infantry.

Meek family from Chatham, Kent
(Jul 09 Green)
My 2 x Great Grandfather John Meek was born in Chatham in abt 1820. His father was also John Meek and I believe his mother's name was Mary Ann but I do not know her surname. I believe John's siblings were Sarah Meek born 1817, Chatham and Charlotte Meek born 1819.
John Meek married Harriet Usher in 1839 in Newington (then Surrey) and they had 5 daughters, Harriet, Mary Ann (my Great Grandmother), Elizabeth, Lucy, Jane and a son John.
I would be interested to hear from anyone with connections to the Meek family from Chatham.

I am looking for the marriage of George NATT, born in Chatham, to a Martha (surname unknown) - it would, most probably, have taken place before 1806 and somewhere near to Chatham, but I haven't found it in the St. Mary, Chatham registers.
