Tiltman Coatguard Death (May 08 Green)
Does anyone have any info on Richard Tiltman, born in Burnham (Dengie) in 1806. He was a coast guard and according to the records he served at Bletchington and then Misner Haven where he was drowned some time in 1841 He had a wife called Mary born in 1811 who may have been a local girl and according to the 1841 census they were living at Silver Lane in shared accomodation with two other Navy/coastguards, Thomas Connell aged 22 and John Stone aged 24. This is what I've got (in brief) My Grandfather was Leonard James Bowtell b. 1909 in West Ham His father Edward Henry Bowtell b.October 10, 1876 in Deptford m. Linda Edith Whitbread b.September 29, 1878 in Poplar Edwards father was Samuel Bowtell b. Abt. 1843 in Burnham, Essex m. Ann Brown b. 1849 Samuels father was also Samuel Bowtell (sometimes Boutell) b. Abt. 1804 in Little Wakering, Essex m. i wonder if anyone can help! last year i opened a hair dressers in burnham, 111a station road. i had to completely gut the place and in doing so uncovered alot of history. i know the recent past of the building but what i really want to know is whatwas there before someone decided to put a roof between two buildings. there's a drop kurb in front so i'm guessing it was an entrance to something. if anyone has any picture's or information it would be gratly apprieciated. thank you sally r.

Barnard Lee moved to Burnham from Great Tey around 1825. Large family, most of which moved away around 1900. Judah Lee stayed and ran a butchers in Tillingham, now a private house. Pleased to hear from anyone connected.
