HYNES Drapers Tulla 1840 - 1935
(Oct 09 Green)
I am searching for descentants of John and Ellen (Clancy) Hynes who had two drapers / clothing / leather shops in Tulla from 1840. I am a descendant of one of their sons James Hynes who married Mary Halloran in Chorleton upon Medlock near Manchester in 1879. James and his dauhter Clare were lost on RMS Leinster 10 October 1918 sunk by a U-Boat. James had a number of male siblings most of whom were born between 1840 and 1860 in Tulla. Some may have emigrated to the USA. James was a Salesman probably in the Rag Trade operating between Manchester (UK) and Tulla. His first daughter Ellen (later Sr.Bruno) was born in Boston, Mass. during a brief stay in USA on 21 December 1882. They may have been staying with Hynes relatives in Boston. Mary told my father they had also visited Argentina at some point.
