Sorry the below message should read of course born in West Horndon not Horndean. His son John Charles Westwood was born in Horndon-on-the-Hill. That town is not available on Curious Fox. Maybe locals could tell me, a Kiwi, what Horndon-on-the-Hill is like today? Still a very small village?

My Great-Great-Great Grandad John Binder was born in Orsett, Essex in about 1796. He married Lucy Ockendon in 1818 who came from Bexhill in Sussex and his family and decendents then seemed to be all around the London/Surrey area. I would love to hear from anyone who has anything on the Orsett branch of the family.

Some of my ancestors appear to have been born in East Horndon:
Edward Aley b. 1812 Averly/East Horndon married to Eliza from Horndon on the Hill
Arthur Samuel Aley b. 1840 and married to Ann Milton Cullington from Barking. They married in 1867 at Bethnal Green.
