Leary / McCarthy families from Cork
(Oct 09 Green)
I'm looking for anyone that maybe connected to Darby (Jeremiah) Leary b. November 1806 - birth is registered on the Kilmurry RC Church Records. His parents were Patrick Leary and Margaret Cronin.
Jeremiah married Ellen McCarthy on the 25th October 1834, the marriage is registered as the RC Church in the Parish of Inchigeelagh, Cork, Ireland. It is believed that Ellen McCarthy and her family were from the Townland of Dromnagopple not all the far from Inchigeelagh. It's possible that the couple married in her parents home. I don't know Ellen's parents names or whether she had any brother & sisters. I would love to find out more about her family.
Jeremiah on the other hand had one brother that I know of, Lewis who immigrated to Boston M.A. abt.1836 and married in 1838 and settled there - most of his descendants are still in and around that area.
Names of Jeremiah & Ellen's children were :-
Cornelius Jul 1835 : James Jan 1836 : Daniel Dec 1836 : Denis 1838 : JOHN June 1839 : Mary 1841 and Cornelius June 1842.
