red mail Anstiss of Brill (Feb 09 Red)
The Anstiss family I am connected to date back to John Anstiss who lived in Brill and married Susannah Hunt also Brill. I cannot trace his birth in this village and would love to find out where he was born. John was the landlord of The Red Lion and as such is mentioned on a summary of the pubs history in the bar. I would love a copy of this article if possible.

green mail George Simmons, Schoolmaster (Mar 05 Green)
I am trying to find out more about my GG grandfather, George Simmons, and his parents (his father was William Simmons and was a Druggist) George was born in Thame, Oxfordshire 1810/11. He was a widower and living in Brill, Buckinghamshire when he was married to Jane (nee Izzard) at St George's Church, Hanover Square in London in 1841. His occupation was noted as schoolmaster. Their first two children Jane and Rebecca were born in Buckinghamshire between 1842 and 1845. Their seven other children, were born in London after 1846. Was he working at the village school in Brill before 1841 and up to c1846? Are there any surviving school log books, is there anyone who knows the history of the village school or of this family who could help me please?

green mail Hall family of Brill (Dec 04 Green)
Richard Hall and Eliza Brown married Bletchingdon 14 Oct. 1823. First 2 children, (Richard & my great grandfather John Hollier Hall) born Kirtlington Oxfordshire. Ann Elizabeth, Thomas, Harriet, William, Anthony, Elizabeth, & Joseph were born Brill. Great grandfather John Hollier Hall emigrated to Michigan USA in the 1850s with wife Harriet POLLARD of Dorton. Great great grandmother Eliza Hall, nee Brown, married John Shurrock after death of her husband Richard in 1840. She was 20 years older than John Shurrock when they married. Eliza is puzzling because she gives several maiden names on various documents. These are Wharton, Brown, & Mortimore. I would like to find out more about her. Am interested in hearing from anyone with ties to the Halls of Brill.
