Brightlingsea - GILDERS (Oct 09 Red)
Hello, I have 22 Gilders in my family tree. Most of them come form Brightlingsea but some are from Harwich, tedering & Devorncourt. Also the names with-in the tree which married in or out of the Gulider are as follows; WARD / WHITE / COLE / POOL / GRIMSEY / LOWNS / HILLS / HARPER / GOODEN / EDWARDS. Would love to hear form anyone who can help me with anything.

Trying to trace details of Nellie Everett born Brightlingsea Essex 1881, her parents were, George Everett (1850) and Francis Ann Steward (1854). I have her in 1881, 1891 census, and in 1901 census as adopted daughter of Ellen Nurse (formerly Ellen Charlotte Everett nee Gray) who was her Aunt (wife of Wallace Everett, Georges Brother), do not know if she married or if she did, who to??? Also any information on John Burgess Everett (1787) and his wife Sarah (maiden name?)(c1791 born Thorpe, Essex. Many thanks.

Looking for relatives of the Brown family (Joseph) who farmed East End Green Farm and Arthur Wenlock, captain of the Rosabelle lived in Springmeade, both situated in Brightlingsea.

Ruffell family from Spring Chase (Jan 09 Red)
I am looking for the Ruffell family who lived in Spring Chase, Brightlingsea at the time of the 1891 censu. It would appear that there are only children living there and no head of household. I know that their father worked for a famous yachtsman but not his name. Can anyone help?

Street plans 1840-1880 (Jan 09 Green)
Both the names and the start and/or end of certain streets in Brightlingsea appear from census data to have undergone several changes in the 1840-1880 period as the population grew and the village expanded. Can anyone help me identify where these changes are documented, with particular reference to Water Lane, Lower Green, North St (heads N. from the Kings Head), Spring Rd and Church Rd?

I am the adopted daughter of Robert Jesse and Gwendoline Tillett I remeber parts of the family being in both Colchester and Brightlingsea I can just rememeber my fathers mother and a wooden solitaire set in my Uncle and Aunts house in Colchester their name was Bloomfield there was also an Aunt who lived in Reading her name I do not rememeber But I do rememeber Gillian who lived in Colchester and was great to me as a child I would be grateful if anyone with information would contact me I can also remember being bitten by a swan in the park near a castle and everyone making a big fuss

Hi I am trying to find information concerning the lugger ship "Mascotte" that sank off the Dutch coast March 6 1883 when a storm hit, resulting in 19 Brightlingsea seaman losing their lives. George Everett being one of them.

Hi I am trying to research my family name of Everett. Grandfather - Fred Everett (used to be to do with the Colchester Pyefleet Oyster Fisheries), his father was John Burgess Everett. Or my Grandmother Ellen May Everett nee Nightingale from the Colchester area, her father - Arthur Charles Nightingale.

M. 24th April 1865 (to Sarah Elizabeth Brook)in the Reg district of West Ham, Essex. She was born abt 1845 in Margate, Kent.) D. ? ? ? ? (still trying to find death entry) Marriage witnessed by William Barham (father of groom) Elmira Barham (mother of groom) (father of bride Francis John Brook) Children: (1891 census) Olderthen born abt 1866, Plaistow, Essex Mary Jane born 22nd Sept 1867, 8, Brunell St, Plaistow, Essex (this sibling is my great grandmother on my maternal side, she married an Edward Middleton, my great grandfather, awaiting marr. cert) Frederick Thomas, B. abt 1869, Canning Town, Essex, D. 1903, West Ham, Essex Albert Edward, B. abt 1872, Canning Town, Essex Minnie Elizabeth, B. abt 1879, Canning Town, Essex Mabel A., B. abt. 1881, Canning Town, Essex Oscar Charles, B. abt 1883, West Ham I am in the middle of trying to find Olderthen Barham Snr's parents, Which are listed on his marriage certificate as William and Elmira. I have found Elmira's death entry in the June quarter of 1919, aged 83 in west Ham, Essex. Im trying to find a death entry for William, but William Barham in Brightlingsea seems to be a common name. I have traced through 1901, 1891, 1881, 1871, 1861, 1851, and 1841 for the family and its proving to be a large family. So lots of research. On Olderthen's Marriage certificate, Olderthen and his father William are recorded as fishermen, and the father of Sarah E. Brooks (Olderthen's bride) is recorded as a pilot. I managed to find William Barham on the 1861 census, he was 25 at this time and he is recorded as an 'A B Seaman' on the census sheet for a ship/vessel called 'Amity'. I have tried checking online for crew lists and stuff for the ship/vessel above and come up with nothing :(. The master of the ship/vessel is named Isaac Orman. The Barham's have my interest in a big way at the moment so im continuing to explore their tree and i'm interested to find out all i can.
