My ancestor George Banister was born in Blackmore about 1790. He married a Sarah from High Ongar but I don't know her surname. One of their children William born about 1818 married a Rebecca from Blackmore who was born about 1822. Anyone have any more info? Christine

One of my ancestors on my Mothwer`s side was Frederick Scrutton of Blossom Wood Farm near Wivenhoe. Amongst his children was Frederick C. Scrutton the elder brother of my ancestor Ambrose Scrutton. Frederick C. was born in 1863 at Wivenhoe and became a foreman of Fringrith Hall Farm, Blackmore. He was maried to Emma...? and they had 6 children - Ida b 1889; Fred 1891; Nora 1894; Dorothy 1896; Agnes M. 1899 and Harold F. 1900.

I am looking for any information about the family of Samuel Samuel who was a master bricklayer in Blackmore. His first wife was Elizabeth and second wife was Anne who lived to 99. He died 22nd April 1869. Children by his first wife were:- Rhoda, Rebecca, Archer, Sarah, Phebe and Emma. There is a possibility that there is a Jewish link to this family and that he might have been born in Dunmow. Any information will be gratefully received. Maureen

I am looking for information about the HUMPHREY family who lived in Blackmore/Ongar. In particular: Henry Humphrey born c.1797; Joseph Humphrey born c.1826; Peter Humphrey b.1850; Henry Humphrey b.1875. Peter and his family moved to Plaistow in East London in about 1890. Any information about them and/or their ancestors/descendents would be welcome.
