red mail Collard Family of Hanakins Farm (Aug 08 Red)
Collard family thought to have owned Hanakins Farm on road between Billericay & St Marys Church, Buttsbury. John & Emma (possibly nee Everill) had many children. My grandfather was born there in 1897. He and his 4 brothers all served in the army during WW1 and all returned safe. Their name/intials are on a memorial stone on the wall inside St Marys Church. The family used to walk there for Sunday service although I think none were married there as this church wasn't licensed for weddings. The house was thought to originally have been a school house dating to possible 1700's. All of the land was sold bit by bit in the mid-late 1900's. I would love to find out more information of the family, as well as the farm and an old photo of the house/farm would be great - I have one taken c1999 & it's tucked into the modern housing development. Please contact me if you can help. Thanks for reading this.
