I am looking for information on my Great Great Grandparents Elizabeth(b.1866?) and George Allen(b.1866?) and their children Arthur, Fred and Gertrude. Elizabeth was born in Berkhampstead Hertfordshire. Gertrude was my Great Grandmother. I know that they were living at 5 Halton Village in 1901. any info would be greatly appreciated.

b. 1790's Married Hannah in Tring 1822, lived in Great Berkhamstead and had at least one son Joseph. Thomas died in 1823 aged 27 buried St Peters Gt Berkhamstead, leaving a wife Hannah and Joseph aged 4. Hannah remarried to John Ley 1826. As I can't find evidence of Thomas's family wonder if he came to work on the canal through Berkhamstead. Does anyone know where I can find information on the building of the canal or railway and possible records please?

I am interested in a Maria WHITEHEAD, born about 1802 in Berkhampstead, Hertfordshire. She later married a John ARNOLD in the midlands and lived the remainder of her life in Fazeley, Tamworth, Staffordshire. She died about 1863. If you have any information about the Whitehead family of Berkhampstead I would be very grateful if you could contact me.

green mail FRANCIS TOMPKINS (Junior) (Jul 07 Green)
Francis (b. 4 Apr 1795) was the son of Francis (1759-1812) and married Sarah Emmett on 1 Apr 1828 in Walworth, Surrey. He returned to Berkhamsted to be a butcher and died 10 Apr 1851. His wife subsequently ran the butcher's shop until her demise in 1869. They had five children: Francis (1829), Sarah (1830), Charles (1832), Thomas (1834) and Harriet (1839). Who can add more detail? Francis was born about 1759 and died 9 Jul 1812. He married Esther (or Catherine?) Ironmonger of Northchurch on 11 Oct 1791 and had six children: William (1792), Hester (1793), Francis (1795), Humphrey (1797), John (1799) and Thomas (1801). If anyone could add to the story, I would be delighted to hear from them. Terry

Seeking information on the Meager clan who lived in Berkhamsted - Northchurch area. The women of the family were primarily strawplaiters. Other family names include Holliman and Thorn.

Sarah Sills b 1810 Northchurch married Henry Cook b. 1810, following the death of her 1st husband Henry Sills b. 1807. They had a son Henry Cook b. 1852 in Berkhamsted. Any info. gratefully received.

I would love to hear from descendants of Joseph & Mary Payne who moved to Berkhamsted in the late 1890's. Their children were Sarah b 1884, Ellen Jane (my grandmother) b 1887, George James b 1890 Elizabeth Mary b 1893, Kate b 1894 & William John b 1898. William was killed in WW1 in Belguim. My grandmother married my grandfather in London in 1916 & moved to Yorkshire.
