red mail Hooper family in Barnstaple. (Oct 09 Red)
I'm seeking any information about descendants or relatives of Thomas Hoooper(b.1797) or Charles Hooper(b.1834), some time resident at 25 Vicarage Street and later at 19 Higher Maudlin Street; they were my great great grandfather and great grandfather respectively.

red mail Henry Gaydon (born 1798) (Jun 09 Red)
I am trying to find any information about the family of Henry Gaydon, christened in Swimbridge in 1798. He married Grace Yeo, also of Swimbridge, and they had 10 children. For at least part of their married life they lived in Newport Road. I have found that 4 of his children came to Australia including my great grandfather, Alexander. Henry was one of five children of Alexander Gaydon and Mary Stribling. It would be wonderful to know what happened to those who remained in England.

red mail Charles Churchill (1820/1 - 1853) (Jun 09 Red)
I am trying to locate details on Charles Churchill and his family. Information I have to date: Charles Churchill was born in Barnstaple, Devon in 1820 or 1821. I have no proven details on his parents or siblings. However, I have found an entry in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) Batch No: C098971, Source Call No: 0590686 (RG4 4953)- which records a birth event for a Charles Churchill on 15 October 1821, Ebenezer Chapel Vicarage Lane-Baptist, Barnstaple, Devon, England. The parents are listed as father -Philip Churchill and mother as Joanna (Anna). A sibling Thirza Churchill born 28 September 1823, same address, is also listed. It is possible that Charles' parents could have been Isaac Churchill and Elizabeth Welshford who were married on 30 December 1792 in Barnstaple, Devon, England. Charle's early trade was a tailor Enlisted in London as a private with HM56th Regiment on 16 April 1838 at the age of 18 years. His regimental number was 1500. He served with his regiment in England, Ireland, Gibraltar and Bermuda over the period from 1838 to 1853. He died in Bermuda on 14 September 1853, (it is assumed from yellow fever). He left a widow, Margaret and three children, Mary, William and Theresa - all who returned to England in December 1853 and subsequently emigrated to Melbourne, Austrlaia, arriving on the "Indian Queen" ex Liverpool, England in February 1855. Charles Churchill married Margaret Murphy (an Irish lady) in St Brendan's Roman Catholic Church, parish of Birr, County Offaly, Ireland on 31 March 1843. Unfortunately, their wedding certificate does not show their parent's names or occupations. Their first child - Mary was born in County Cork, Ireland in 1843; the second child - William was born in Bury, England on 30 June 1846 and the third child - Theresa, it is assumed, was born in Bermuda in 1852 or 1853. Any information on the history of this particular Churchill family or living descendants would be greatly appreciated.
