red mail Hughes family (Aug 09 Red)
I am trying to find out if there is a link between the Hughes family in Bampton and that of Edward Hughes and Ann Godwin who were married in Blewbury on 3 March 1768. By 1812,one of their sons,Thomas Hughes, a blacksmith was living in Harwell, 12 of his 13 children were baptised there and he was buried in Harwell in 1844. He was born on 19 July 1787 in Blewbury, one of at least 11 children of Edward Hughes and Ann Godwin baptised there. His father was 76 when he was buried in Blewbury on 19 Nov 1826, giving year of birth C1750. It is possible he was the son of Edward Hughes and Sarah baptised in Bampton, Oxon on 20 April 1750. Can anyone confirm the link between Bampton and Blewbury Hughes families?

red mail Jesse Haynes (Haines, Hains) (Feb 08 Red)
Need to locate Jesse Haynes, son of David Haynes and Ellen Ann Haynes of Bampton. Jesse was baptised in Jun 1880 in Bampton and his father died of a gunshot wound in the same year. Reported in Jackson's Oxford journal 21 & 28/8/1880. The inquest included F Westell (labourer) and Embury Wenman (possibly employer) It is believed that Jesse disappeared after a family gathering. I would love to hear from anyone who could shed some light on Jesse's family and put my great Auntie's mind at rest.
