William Ardley and his wife Hannah Firman-Pope owned a coffee shop for many years on the site of what is now the Leicester Square Odeon. He always give his place of birth as Colchester.I have traced William back to the only viable entry in Colchester, i.e. 1796 (parents Jonathan and Mary (nee Osborne). I have a Settlement Certificate addressed to the parish of St. Mary, Colchester (dated 1790) from the Churchwardens of Assington certifying that Jonathan Ardley and his wife and two children had been settled in Assington.The Overseers were Joseph WARNER and John WARREN. I have been unable to get back any further. Jonathan married Mary Osborne in 1787 in Colchester, and all their children were baptised there. Did Jonathan and Mary originally come from Assington? Any help gratefully received.

Hi, I'm looking for any imformation concerning my gx3grandfather William Ward and more hopefully, his parents and siblings, if he had any. William was born in Great Cornard in 1801 and married Mary Frost 1797 of Assington. They lived in Assington and had 5 children... 2 girls... Charlotte 1823 and Eliza 1841.... and 3 boys... James 1830, Nathan 1834 and my gx2grandfather David 1837. Mary's parents were Samuel Frost 1764 of Assington and Sarah (surname unknown), I have no other details for her other than that she died abt1842 in Assington. They were married in Assington Abt 1792 Any information would be gratefully received as I have hit that proverbial brick wall. Thanks

Robert White c 1600 to ? (Nov 04 Red)
My ancestor Robert White (c 1600 to ?) after marrying Jane Harper at Newton by Sudbury in 1627 baptised two children Robert and Jane 1628 and 1630 here in Assington in the first two years after their marriage, they then disaappear from the registers. Anyone know where they ended up?
