I am tracing my famly tree and I am desperate to find out about my grandfather Cyril Lane. I know he came from the Bulwell area of Nottingham and that he married my grandmother Mary Elizabeth Oldham (known as Polly) in about 1925. They had one child, a daughter, my mother Rosamund Mary. He then left when my mother was about 3 years old. I have heard he went to the U.S.A but was never heard of again. He was never talked about or even mentioned when I was a child. I am seeking the father of Richard Lane born Sedgley c1830. I believe he may be either Thomas,Richard or John Lane who were sons of Thomas Lane & Tamor Pinner who married at Broseley, Salop. in 1786. They apparently moved to Sedgley where they were coal miners and/or iron miners/moulders. Census' give indications but no evidence. Has anyone else researched this family?

Thomas George Lane and family.Thomas may have lived in Ratcliffe with his father George,a licenced victualler,and his mother,Sarah(Brown) up until he married Maria Moss in the 1840's. Both George and Maria had an adult baptism at St.Dunstan's churchin 1852 before emigrating to Australia with their 3 children, Rebecca,Adelaide and George. The address they gave was 53 Gloucester Street, Stepney. Maria's father was also named George and her mother was Rachel Davis.

CHARLES Lane 1809-1899 - Temple Cloud, Somerset
My 5xg,grandfather was born in temple cloud and committed the offence of highway robbery and sentenced to hang at Taunton court in 1828. This was converted to life in Australia and he arrived here in 1829. By 1832 he was sworn in as a police constable on the hawksbury river and later became one of the first constables in Newcastle nsw where he spent the rest of his long life. Today there are over 1000 persons descendant from Charles. Are you one of his family he left behind ? Contact me
