Eastley and MUGRIDGE - North Huish, Devon
William Eastley, christened May 1805, married Elizabeth MUGRIDGE September 5, 1830 in Diptford. They had 3 daughters, Elizabeth (born 1830), Eliza (born Diptford 1832) and Matilda Ann (born 1835 North Huish). In 1838 William was convicted of sheepstealing and transported to Van Diemen's Land for 15 years. He was part of a gang who had terrorised the south of Devon for some time.
Elizabeth remained in North Huish until 1851/52 when she joined William. When she arrived she had their 3 daughters and 2 illegitimate sons, Richard (born c.1842) and John (born c.1847). When they arrived in Australia Richard used the name Richard Prowse Eastley.
I am currently trying to ascertain who Richard and John's father/s is/are. Not an easy task byany means! ;D Any help would be greatly appreciated.
