Cairns - Stradbally, An tSraidbhaile, and Parish, County Waterford
I am looking for Thomas Cairns, shoe/bootmaker. born circa 1800. His son John Cairns born circa 1833 (mine engine driver) emigrated to Australia around 1850's. He was literate in English. On his son's birth certificate he gave Stradbally Waterford as his birth place. All other certs just say Waterford. Any help would be appreciated.

Robert Cairns/Philomena Riley - Preston, Lancashire
Thanks to the 1911 Census, I now know that my granduncle Robert Cairns, born 1884/5 in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, married Philomena Riley (b. Preston, Lanc. about 1885) in Preston in 1903. By 1911, they had four daughters - twins Rose and Amelia, born Preston c 1905; Marie, b. Preston c 1907; and Ieleen (maybe Eileen?) b. c. 1910 in Yorks, Yorkshire. The famiy lived at 18 Vellier Street, Preston, Lanc. Robert was an overhead wireman, who worked at Tramulay Construction Works; Philomena was a laundress. Any information anyone can share about this family would be most deeply appreciated.

Does anyone have a Thomas Cairns in their tree, shoemaker, aged 35+ in mid 1860s please. We know there was one son - Peter born 1865 - mother's name unknown. Possibly several siblings of Peter.

Looking for info on family of Mary Cairns (born Dalrymple) who married in 1848 James Martin (Ploughman). The family worked in Ayrshire and in Kilmory, Arran. Mary Cairns died at Clachaig Farm, Kilmory, Arran around 1879

I'm seeking more information about the family of my ggrandmother Zilpah Cairns(incorrectly transcribed as Leopah in 1861 census). Her parents were William & Eliza & her grandparents John & Hannah.The family name is spelt as Carnes in 1841 census. Also, 1841 census states John came from Scotland, but where? Lamont/Wylie/Cairns - Gortaheran, County Antrim
John Lamont born 1828 married Agnes Wylie in June 1849 1st Presb Church of Portglenone. One of them came from Moboy or Maboy and the other from Gortaheran. Their eldest daughter Mary went to Glasgow and married Robert Cairns in 1875. Robert said he came from Maboy as well but NOONE in our family can find any record of Cairns in that area.

Cairnes (Cairns), Pogue - Monaghan, Muineachan, and Parish, County Monaghan
I am looking for more information about my Cairnes (Cairns) ancestors, who lived near Monaghan Town in the early 1800s. My great-grandfather John Cairnes was probably born between 1850-55 in Tullyhirm townland. In 1877, he married Elizabeth Pogue at the Church of Ireland in Monaghan town. Elizabeth was born in 1865 in Rooskey, a townland very near Monaghan town, to John and Anne Pogue. John Cairnes' father also was named John Cairnes, and he was a labourer. Any information about these Cairnes and Pogue ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

Robert Cairns - Blackburn, Lancashire
I am looking for my granduncle, Robert Cairns, who was born in Monaghan, Ireland, in 1884. His family moved to Belfast in 1889 or 1890. He fought, probably with the Royal Irish Rifles, in WWI. Family story says he met and married an English nurse, settled in Blackburn, and had two daughters. I have had no luck in finding him, and don't know the name of the nurse he married. Any information about Robert would be greatly appreciated.

Am trying to trace my GG-grandfather George Cairns born c1826, son of John Cairns, a farmer and wife Mary.Birth place Newtownards. George was married aged 24 in Scotland and died in Australia. Has anyone information about their siblings or parents? James had a sister Hannah & a brother Thomas.Their parent's names were James Cairns & Jane (nee COUPER/COOPER) Janet may have been born Auchterarder,Perth, Scotland.

Cairns In Chapel - Chapel, Lanarkshire
Adam Cairns (1785-1835) and Janet PATERSON (1789-1878) founded a large family which more or less stayed around Chapel until at least early 20th century. They had 6 boys, so the name Cairns stayed. Descendants are also currently alive in England, Canada and New Zealand.
