ager - 18th Century - Steeple Bumpstead, Essex
Trying to trace my ager ancestors of Steeple Bumpstead. John ager was baptised in Steeple Bumpstead, Essex in c 1778. He was my 3x great grandfather who I believe was born in nearby Radwinter. I have a copy of his baptismal record, obtained by my late father in 1949. Either by mistake or deliberate change, the surname was, somewhere during his lifetime, changed to Auger, in my line. I have found a John ‘Acker’, living in Radwinter at the time of the 1841 census, who may have been my 3x great grandfather’s father. He was registered as a widower aged 80 – 84. Have you come across ‘Acker’ as being a variant of ager, also the surnames of Hager or Hagar? Any information you have would be much appreciated.

ager - Bow Brickhill, Buckinghamshire
I am interested in the ager family of Bow Brickhill. Mary ager 1777-1857 married John Perry of Bletchley. Mary was the daughter of William ager and Mary Chambers of Bow Brickhill. Does anyone know of this family?
