Sir Ralph Abercromby - Menstrie, Clackmannanshire
From the Century Cyclopedia of Names 1895
Sir Ralph Abercromby, born at Menstry Clackmannanshire in October 1734 he died near Alexandria Egypt 28th March 1801. A distinguished British General, commander in chief in the West Indies 1795-97, when he took Grenada, Demerara, and Trinidad, and relieved St. Vincent. He was mortally wounded 21st March 1801
