Walker, William Gwilliam
- Llandenni
This is a long shot. In a transcript of the family bible, he is shown as having been born on 2 August 1785 at 'Berllanvedu'(farm or district - obviously a made up name - look at the French in it! or is it?),at Llandering (Town? spelling is not correct, as the handwriting is dreadful and I am trained in deciphering old handwriting!) in Monmouthshire. I have lots of in depth material about them in Australia, but have often wondered what they were doing in France in 1816. He was not in the army. Any relatives still out there in Wales? I will send you a family tree of the Walker-Fletchers in Australia, since 1825. They were well off it appears, as they had chartered the Admiral Cockburn and carried stock and more than £500 as they received a land grant as soon as they got to Tasmania. My daughter and I would love to know more about him and the other family members - another William Walker d. 1793, Elizabeth Walker d. 1797, Mary Walker d. 1802, Miles Walker d. 1808, and so on. The town may also be Abergavenny.
Regards
Rosie
