I am interested in locating any individuals in Glenluce or surrounding area, with the surname Carrey (spelling can vary, including Keiry, Carey or Carrie). My g-g-g-grandfather was William Carrey, born in Glenluce (Old Luce) around 1815, surname spelt KEIRY. His father was also William KEIRY, mother Jean McKenna; they married in Challochmun, Glenluce, 1799. (Bride's father was John McKenna of Kirkcowan). Several likely children include a Helen, John, Elizabeth, and Agnes, as well as William, all born between 1802 and 1815. Any similar names earlier than the 1800's are of particular interest, plus anyone who might have details of descendants of the girls and John.

I am trying to trace the McCleary family, later spelt McChlery, from Glenluce, Wigtown. My 2xgreat grandfather, William Dawson McCleary, was born in Gleluce in 1819. He was a Harness maker, and came down to Dover in about 1856. He married my 2xgreat grandmother, Martha Escott, at St Mary's, Dover, on 21st February 1857. He died in Dover, on 23rd February 1870.
