Searching for descendents of McLean family who lived at Awhirk farm near Ardwell in 1850's. Father William had several sons including James McLean who is buried in Creetown (Kirkmabreck Cemetery). Original ancestor was Jacob McLean b. Londonderry 1813 and moved to SW Scotland and married Elizabeth Thomson 1837 in Leswalt Parish.

I am interested in locating any individuals in Glenluce or surrounding area, with the surname Carrey (spelling can vary, including Keiry, Carey or Carrie). My g-g-g-grandfather was William Carrey, born in Glenluce (Old Luce) around 1815, surname spelt KEIRY. His father was also William KEIRY, mother Jean McKenna; they married in Challochmun, Glenluce, 1799. (Bride's father was John McKenna of Kirkcowan). Several likely children include a Helen, John, Elizabeth, and Agnes, as well as William, all born between 1802 and 1815. Any similar names earlier than the 1800's are of particular interest, plus anyone who might have details of descendants of the girls and John.

McCleary Family - Glenluce
I am trying to trace the McCleary family, later spelt McChlery, from Glenluce, Wigtown. My 2xgreat grandfather, William Dawson McCleary, was born in Gleluce in 1819. He was a Harness maker, and came down to Dover in about 1856. He married my 2xgreat grandmother, Martha Escott, at St Mary's, Dover, on 21st February 1857. He died in Dover, on 23rd February 1870. My Great Grandfather David Patterson was born in 1856 at the Ilse of Whithorn, his father was David Patterson and Mother Mary Gordon, daughter of Elizabeth Gordon. One of his sisters Jessie Jane Patterson married James Smith and she and her family lived in and around Newton Stewart, particularly 3 of her daughters May, Jeanne and Gertrude Smith who lived at 4 Kay Avenue, until the 1980's.
