I am researching the Gardiner family who lived in carrington in the nineteenth century. Janet gardiner had an illegitimate son, william gardiner c.1861 who married mary henderson (mothers maiden name oliver) in 1884 at carrington. They had at least seven children, one who is believed to have drowned in crichton loch. Their second oldest son, william, (my great-granpa) married christina wilson in peebles, where they remained. George gardiner also stayed in Peebles. Mary henderson died in 1950 at gullane.

I'm trying to trace the parents of William Cumming and Margaret Aimslie who were married on December 6th 1833,at North Leith Parish Church. They lived in Corstorphine, Midlothian where William was a Master Boot and Shoemaker.They had James (b.1837) Elizabeth, William,Thomas and Margaret. James married Jane Dunn on August 16th 1861. Jane was the daughter of James Dunn a Master Baker of Corstorphine. Jane's maternal Grandfather was Alexander Simpson, the schoolmaster in Corstorphine from 1812 to 1848.

I am trying to locate anyone knowing or related to either Thomas Robertson born app.1920 who married Mary Falconer Thomson in 1941. Prior to her marriage Mary worked in a pharmacy in Dalkeith where she & her mother (her father went to war & ended up in Australia in Bathurst) I believe. Mary & "Tuck" had one child Tom Robertson born September 1942. Marys mother brought the son up whilst she & her husband lived in Sabah, Malaysia.(prior to this he was a motor engineer Fitter Royal Air Force,UK) They later returned to the UK where they lived before settling in Australia in the 60's. Both have passed away & I am finding it so difficult to begin a trace. I was a daughter in law & my son & I are just starting a family tree & ANY info would be greatly appreciated. I am researching my 4th great grandfather Andrew Dawson b. 1817 in Delkeith. He died Sept. 1871 in Delkeith. His father was Andrew Dawson married to Grace Scott in April 1813. Her parents were Ebnezer and Mary Scott. Andrew had four brothers: James b. 1818, Ebnezer b. 1819, Alexander b. 1821, and Abraham b. 1823. Andrew came to America in 1843. He married Hosette Garreau in the Dakota Territory. He had sons James and Thomas and sent them to Scotland for their education. He had a daughter Josie who was not educated. He then retired to Scotland in 1864 and died in Delkeith in 1871. I would like to correspond with anyone having any information on this family.

My interest is in Adam Armstrong and Margaret Thomson from the Dalkeith or Cockpen areas of Midlothian. They married before 1830. Adam was the son of Agnes Scott (father not mentioned on death cert), born about 1800 in Dalkeith. Margaret Thomson was the daughter of Alexander Thomson and Margaret Anderson who married in Cockpen in 1792. Adam & Margaret Armstrong had their children, Margaret, Agnes, Adam, Janet, Christina, David, Isabella, Ellen and Alexander in Newbattle but after 1851 they moved to the parish of Ballingry where James died in a mine collapse. Alexander URQUHART, born 1770, Dalkeith, was a Cork Cutter, and he married Margaret KER or KERR in 1788 at South Leith, Midlothian - though they later lived at Dundee.
Does anyone have connections to any of the above? I'm always happy to share info. I'm especially trying to find earlier information about William URQUHART and Mary ROBERTSON.
