Dickson family of Coatbridge and Gartsherrie
- Coatbridge
Hi Can anybody help me track my ancestors who lived and worked in Coatbridge in Ironworks, The main relative i am seeking is A rather elusive one who is mentioned with 4 different forenames, He is either David, Daniel, Donald or John Dickson, who married Margaret Mckinlay in the late 1840's to early 1850's in coatbridge, he was a blast furnace fitter/labourer they had 6 children the eldest listed as either Daniel or Donald, There was also Sarah, James and Duncan - Twins and Peter, they were all born in the local area, the twins are listed as having been born in 1852 in Gartsherrie and the youngest in 1855 in Coatbridge. the Information above has taken a wee bit of research most of it gleaned from birth/marriage/death or census records the earlest of which is 1851 - gartsherrie aged 50, where they are listed as a family, but He disappears before the the next census in 1861, where the family turns up in Coatbridge in Steel street. If anybody could help or point me in the right direction i would much appreciate it. Martyn

Greig/Boyd families
- Coatbridge
Looking for anyone researching the name Greig or Boyd in Coatbridge/Old Monkland/New Monkland.
John Greig married Bethia Boyd in 1874 in Old Monkland. Bethia died in 1884 and her sister Isabella moved in with John as "housekeeper". John and Isabella never married, I assume as the church would not allow it. They had two children James King Greig b 1888 d1888 and my gr grandfather George b 1890 d1935. Isabella died in 1898 and John remarried to Jean Neville in 1899.
George Greig married Margaret Callaghan in 1911 in St Augustines church.
Anyone interested in these families I would love to hear from you.
