1901 census places Kinnis family at Shotts Inn Farm immediately after the listing for the Shotts Kirk and before Shottsburn Cottage and then the manse. I take it the Farm was on the main road, location now near or under the motorway. Any photos from that period, information, confirmation of location welcome. I have a nice photo of Shotts Kirk with what I presume to be the farm, given its shape, in the foreground. Also looking for unknown father of illegitimate child born to the family in 1907 :-) Anyone want to own up to a conception in 1906? Another daughter, Helen Dykes Kinnis, married Alexander Waddell from nearby Dewshill farm in 1915, but died Nov 1916 in the maternity hospital, Glasgow . Info or contact from them welcome. My g/mother was Lucy Allan-Reid, one of a combined family of 9? children living in Ivy Cottage in Lamington. When I was a child she would tell of garden parties at the "Laird's" (Lord & Lady Hamilton?) where she was asked to sing. She travelled throughout Europe with her step sister Ada, (unheard of at the time!)who went on to teach in Glasgow.
