42 Sandyhills Street in 1906 - Shettleston
On my grandparents' marriage certificate, it says they were both living at 42 Sandyhills Street, Shettleston at the time of their marriage in 1906. He was a coal miner and she a domestic servant. I have looked for this address on old maps but can find nothing about the house that was there. Does anyone in this list know or can anyone tell me where I might look to find out more about this address? I'm thinking it must have been a rooming/boarding house.

Looking for connections to Walter Gardiner, b 1782, Ravenshole,Shotts, married Cecelia Lindsay,(parents unknown) b 1783, on August 13, 1815, Shotts. Walter's father's name was William Gardner (no info) and Mary Brown (no info). They came to Ont. Canada in 1821. Walter's obit, located in Scotland says in part "Died on Monday the 21st of April last, in Ramsay, Canada West, in the 62nd year of his age, Walter Gardner. He was born of religous parents, both members of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Scotland. His father was ruling elder in the Reformed Presbyterian Congregation under the pastoral care of the late Rev. Archibald Mason, D.D. His grandfather adhered to the covenanted Reformation under the faithful ministry of our martyered Renwick, and remained with the societies when left without a fixed Pastor after the Revolution settlement. He was instructed in the principles of the convenated testimony.He was formerly a member of the Wishawton congregation and latterly of the Reformed Presbyterian congregation of Ramsay. Walter was my gg grandfather and would love to connect to his or his wife's parents. Any pointers to any Church records re "ruling elder in the Reformed Presbyterian Congregation " would be appreciated.

1871 census (GROS 649/00 011/00 024) shows William Kinnis at location 118, aged 44, grain dealer, born Falkland, with wife Ellen (Helen) nee Dykes aged 40 from Kilbride Lanarkshire, and children James (9), William (8), Ellen/Helen (5) and Agnes (2). (Helen's twin David died aged 2 in 1868.) Neighbours to county police constables and their families (Shaw and ?Hamilton) and retired farmer (Callan). Kinnis family children birthplaces indicate a recent move from Cambusnethan where Agnes was born and Bothwell before that. 1881 census (Source: FHL Film 0203695 GRO Ref Volume 649 EnumDist 11 Page 17 ) says Kinnis family in dwellinghouse in Turfholm, head = William (age 54 from Falkland, grain merchant), wife = Helen nee Dykes from E. Kilbride. Eldest son James (age 20) was not present. (He was working as a flour miller, lodging at 6 Grey Row, TIbbermore, Perth: FHL Film 0203515 GRO Ref Volume 395 EnumDist 4 Page 2.) 2nd son William (age 17) was working as assistant. The nine year old son Andrew Dykes was born in Lesmahagow. 1891 census says James Kinnis and wife Helen (Ellen) nee Dykes were living there at Oakbank Farm (#90, page 207?) with children William, Ellen (Helen) and Agnes ages 27, 24, 21. By 1891 James was married to Agnes Law from Carnwath, I think, and living at New Mill, Shotts and working as a miller. William died in 1899, but Helen died in Lesmahagow (at ?Woodside?) in 1922. I am not sure at the moment where she was in 1901 (& 1911). Any photographs or documents would be very welcome, relating to the family or local history.
