Sarah Boyle from Tongland, Kirkcudbright.
- Tongland
I am looking for my 2nd great grandmother Sarah Boyle, who according to census records was born in Scotland - a big country! On her marriage certificate it said her father was called William Boyle and he was an agricultural labourer. Using this small amount of information and the fact she was corn circa 1843 I believe I have tracked her back to Tongland, Kirkudbrightshire. Her father William born circa 1812 was probably from Sarby, Wigtownshire and her mother Margaret born circa 1809 from Balamagham.
Census records for 1851 show Sarah living with her family at Barnesash Cottage, Tongland, Dunfriesshire.
1861 census she is working as a servant to a family called Ewart in Moffat Dumfriesshire.
At the time of her marriage to Henry Atkinson on 15th May 1865, according to her marriage certificate she was living in Gownleyfoot, North Yorkshire and they married in Healey cum Sutton Nth Yorkshire.
I feel I have now hit a brick wall with this family and would love to hear from anyone researching the Boyle name that may be able to help me.
