My GGG G-Father was Captain Kenneth Campbell, "Kenneth of the Uidh" on the island of Taransay (Tarasaigh). I have very little information on his critical dates, but know that he was the master of a schooner that moored at Loch Uidhe, and that he traded with a cousin Donald Campbell in the Carolinas in the 1870's. Kenneth married Catherine MacDonald, of whom I know nothing. Kenneth's full gaelic descendancy is Choinneach mac Alasdair mhic Choinnich mhic Dhomhnaill mhic Iain Oig then mhic Iain mhic choinneach. Kenneth,. son of Alexander, son of Kenneth, son of Donald, son of Iain Og, and further Iain Og son of Iain son of Kenneth. Kenneth's son Domhnall Bodhar (Deaf Donald)was apparently killed in a brawl at Dunvegan Castle (no other detail known. Somewhere circa 1830/1840, Kenneth and his daughter Margaret (Peggy of the Uidhe)(1780/Abt1853)gave up the farm at the Uidhe on Taransay and moved to a farm at Maraig and then to Eilleananabuich (Possibly 5 Eilleananabuich).
