Macleod
- Tairbeart, Tarbert
My Grandfather Norman Macleod (1872/1953) was born in Tarbert and after a long merchant navy career returned there to see out his life. His parents were Kenneth Macleod (1823/1902)(a different Kenneth from The Baker of Tarbert) and Ann MacPhee (1843/1933). Ann was daughter to Peter MacPhee (1811/1861) and Kirsty MacAulay (1814/1897) of 7 Urgha. I am seeking information on GF Norman's siblings. I have a reasonable record of sister Kirsty who married George MacDonald of CastleBay Barra. Looking for any further info on other siblings - Peter (1866/1955) UM, Alexander (1879/?), Jane (aka Jeanie 1867/1932) UM, Dolina (aka Dolly 1876/?) UM, Margaret (aka Peggy 1864/1954), John Norman (1884/?) and Ann C (1883/1964). As Tarbert, Urgha, Carragraich and Kyles of Scalpay are closely located, seeking any help I can get. Cheers Stuart

Campbell
- Uidh
My GGG G-Father was Captain Kenneth Campbell, "Kenneth of the Uidh" on the island of Taransay (Tarasaigh). I have very little information on his critical dates, but know that he was the master of a schooner that moored at Loch Uidhe, and that he traded with a cousin Donald Campbell in the Carolinas in the 1870's. Kenneth married Catherine MacDonald, of whom I know nothing.
Kenneth's full gaelic descendancy is Choinneach mac Alasdair mhic Choinnich mhic Dhomhnaill mhic Iain Oig then mhic Iain mhic choinneach. Kenneth,. son of Alexander, son of Kenneth, son of Donald, son of Iain Og, and further Iain Og son of Iain son of Kenneth.
Kenneth's son Domhnall Bodhar (Deaf Donald)was apparently killed in a brawl at Dunvegan Castle (no other detail known.
Somewhere circa 1830/1840, Kenneth and his daughter Margaret (Peggy of the Uidhe)(1780/Abt1853)gave up the farm at the Uidhe on Taransay and moved to a farm at Maraig and then to Eilleananabuich (Possibly 5 Eilleananabuich). Peggy married
Norman Macleod of Huisinis - perhaps whilst at Maraig or at Eilleananabuich.
I would appreciate any help with respect to these ancestors of mine.
