James (Mc)Kinnes m. Elizabeth Anderson
- Scoonie
Married in Dundee in 1857, but both stated residence as Scoonie, Fife. Two sons, James (McKinnes) Jnr b. 1858 and David Alexander (McInnes) b. 1860 both in Scoonie. By the 1861 census, James, the father, appears no longer on the scene, Elizabeth & two sons are living with her mother Margaret in Scoonie - at census 1861, 1871 & 1881 - and each time she is recorded as married (not divorced or widowed) and from then on in official documents she and sons are always Kinnes (not McKinnes). Anyone recognise this family within their family tree, and/or know what became of father James Kinnes, or indeed where he was born?

- St. Andrews
From The Century Cyclopedia of Names 1895
Andrew Bell was born at St. Andrew's Fife 27th March 1753 and died in Cheltenham 27th January 1832. A clergyman of the Church of England he was noted as the founder of the so-called - Madras System - of popular education. From 1774 to 1781 he lived in Virginia, and from 1787 to 1796 in India where as superintendent of the Madras Male Orphanage Asylum he developed his educational system in which the pupils were led to teach each other under the directionof a master. His originality was disputed by Joseph Lancaster, and the contest between their systems assumed considerable public importance.

Margaret DICK
- Strathmiglo
Trying to confirm if Margaret is the daughter of Alexander Dick and Betty Storrar. I can only find three children for this couple, William DOB 14/08/1802, Alexander DOB 02/04/1804, and John DOB 13/02/1808 all born in Strathmiglo. I believe Margaret would have been born around 1800 and I do know from wedding banns that she must have been from there or living there 1830. She married Robert Miller in Dunfermline. They had 3 children Robert, Alexander and Elizabeth who's middle name was Storrar. Hence my theory!
Can Anyone Help Please!!

Temple Niblo
- Fife
researching the Temple and Niblo families in Fife on my husbands side of the family. John Temple and Margaret Niblo married in Edinburgh 24th Nov. 1882. There were two children born before the marriage - James (reg. under Niblo)b.1879 Inverkeithing and Jane b.1881 Inverkeithing. It is unclear whether James was John's child, but he used the name Temple. Other known offspring were Robert 1884; Thomas 1887; Margaret 1891; John 1894; William 1896; possibly Catherine after this.
I would be interested to know where the Niblos originated - the name essentially disappears in this form around 1800. Alternative spelling Kniblo brings results in Edinburgh and Dumfriesshire back to early 1600s. I am also trying to trace a birth for John's father Robert Temple. In census records he gives his birthplace as Edinburgh (but sometimes people told lies or could not remember where they were born) He died 3rd Jan 1889 in Church Street, Inverkeithing age stated as 62yrs. His occupation was a boilerman. His parents are given as John Temple (gardener) and Margaret Johnston. He was married to Margaret Henderson b. Lanark c1822 (who states birthplace Inverkeithing in census records!) died 4th Dec 1892. Parents given as John Henderson and Helen Walker....
