- Sanquhar
My own ancestor, Archibald WILSON lived in Sanquhar and worked as a mail driver in the time span 1835-1850. One puzzle is what happened to Archibald as the next sign of the family is when his widow Elizabeth BROWN appears in Cambusnethan in 1859 (when she died). I have found no trace of any of them in 1851 or 1861. I believe that there may be connections via the name BROWN to Kirkconnell, close to Sanquhar.

Thomas Harrington Vipond - Dumfriesshire (DFS, County, Scotland)
Thomas was born in Dumfriesshire on 14 May 1807. The names of his parents or any siblings is unknown. At some point he emigrated to Canada, and married a Mary Ann Mizner. They had four children: William b. 1832, Isaac Harrison b. 1834, Elizabeth b. 1840, Anna Emily b. 1844(my great grandmother) and Caroline 'Carrie' b. 1850.
The entire family moved to the United States around 1858 first in Illinois and then in Colorado. I am trying to find out when Thomas actually left Scotland for Canada and if there were any siblings who remained or migrated elsewhere.
