URQUHART in Grange
- Grange Crossroad
My Urquhart folk seemingly occupied 'Shiels Croft' , around 1915 / 1916 ......The croft was situated somewhere near Knock........Knock is the pronounced conical hill , at the eastern extremity of the Parish of Grange. , reaching 1,412 feet.......The Urquharts subsequently lived at 'Garrowood' , also in the Parish of Grange.............The name 'Garrowood ' lives on in the form of a house there ... Whether it is the one previously occupied by my Grandparents , I would like to know. ......Apart from a house called 'Garrowood ' , it is interesting to note that the former Grange railway-station became Garrowood Hotel ... It incorporated a post-office.......The current situation and set-up is however unknown to me.
