William Clark (Stonemason) son of John Clark & Jane Clark (ms Rae) married Mary Ann Norrie of Ordiquhill 1900. John Clark, Shoemaker, lived at Nelson? Terrace, Aberchirder. My grandfather (John) was the son of William Clark & Mary Ann Norrie and he settled in Glasgow but came back to Aberchirder/ Portsoy on holiday and to see family during the 1930's/1940's. James Russell, my great grandfather migrated from Insch, Aberdeenshire. His relatives there say there are more ancesters in the cemetery in Aberchirder. His brother is George Russell. His nephew was George Horn Russell a famous Canadian Artist. George Horn Russell was born to Susan Conn and George Russell on April 18, 1861 in Banff, Banff, Scotland. I am interested in gaining more Russell information.

Provost Alexander Dirom Provost of Banff. Born Muiresk October 1725. Died Banff 21st January 1788. Son of Alexander Dirom and Janet Reid. Provost of Banff. Married firstly 26th August 1749 Mary Mark (died 8th January 1754) daughter of Provost John Mark and Helen Hamilton. He married secondly 18th July 1754 Anne Fotheringham, (born ca. 1733, died 4th November 1819) daughter of Dr Charles Fotheringham and Katherine Skene. I'd welcome the opportunity to exchange and compare genealogical data on the ancestors, kinsfolk and descendants of Provost Dirom.

John Roy - Banff
In my home town in Australia is the grave of John Roy, husband of Annie Aiken, of Banff. He died in 1906 when he left his ship the African Monarch. He was 1st Officer. I would love to hear from his relatives as I look after the grave, being a Roy myself. I believe his father was Alexander, a sailmaker of Banff.

Barclay & Forbes - Banff
Looking for a contact researching Alexander Barclay 1844-1921, who married Ann Forbes 1847-1916, one of their children was Marjory McPherson Barclay 1879-1928 who married Andrew Cardno from Fraserburgh. They emigrated to Hamilton, Canada in 1910.
Also trying to find a Catherine Forbes b c 1883, -died 1967 in Hamilton. Catherine was (according to family) a cousin of the above Marjory, and married Andrew after her death. She had been married earlier, in the death notice of Andrew, she was referred to as the former Catherine Paul.

David Harthill married Jane Duguid on 12-3-1880 at Lintmill Seafield, Scotland. All I know is that he drowned at Aberdeen. My grandmother Nellie b 4-10-1889 is one of their issue. The other children are William b 1882 and John b 1888. There may be others.

I am trying to trace my 3x great grandfather. I have traced back as far as when they came to Canada in 1822 when their son, Richard, was a baby. Richard had two olders brothers, Thomas and John, who were born about 1812 and 1817 respectively. Family forelore has it that George fell overboard and drowned on the way to Canada but I have not been able to prove that.

My Grandmother was called Violet Findlay, Born 3/4/1922 in Seatown, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland. Her father was Alexander Findlay and he was a Grocer, her mother was Margaret S. Wood and they were married 29/6/1916 in Banff. I think they moved on to Portsoy after Violet was born as the address on her marriage certificate was 18 Schoolhendry Street, Portsoy. She married Alexander Mackay in Aberdeen in 1859 and they moved to Edinburgh in 1862 where they ran a pet dealers business in the Pleasance. Researching Deskford Charles born 26/06/1767 at Cullen,BANFF.
Parents are Peter Charles & Janet Porteais.
Janet appears to have had six children.Her surname varies eg.Porteous, Porteais, Porter, Portes and Portor.Peter Charles was a gardener and worked at Braidsburn in 1783.
Records also show Peter Charles,gardener married to Janet Porteous 12 Aug 1761 at South Leith,Midlothia,Scotland.
Deskford Charles went to live in Gliingham,Kent and married Elizabeth Simmons and then to Mary Ann Cunningham.He died in 1791 & is buried in Kent.

Looking for Samuel's brothers and sisters, all born around Elgin, names- Albert, Frederick, Elizabeth Ann, Harriet Jane,James, Joseph, mother Harriet Sammells. Harriet left Buckie after the death of William and settled in Lancashire where she remarried.
