Hello, I am looking for information on Robert Reid who was born sometime around 1853/63 in Dalrymple Ayrshire, he came to Australia with his brother James - Date unknown. He Married later in life to Eva May Cox in 1914 York Western Australia and had 1 son Robert in 1915. My mother always said Grandad( Robert-1915) said she was the first lass born to his family for 4 generations. We believe Robert Reid's father was also Robert Reid, but this is only hearsay and makes tracking the family so much harder, any help? Please!

Hello can anyone please help me, I`m trying to find information on Ellen Johnston (Johnson?) born c1788 Dalrymple Ayrshire. She married Samuel Downey born c1788 Wigtown Scotland they married in 1809, I don`t know where)) but their Son James Downey was born on 09/06/1809 in Alnwick Northumberland and was baptised in Berwickshire.They then moved to Sunderland,Durham. I have all the info I need on James Downey and all the family in Sunderland but know nothing about Ellen and who her parents were. Can anyone help me please.

My 2xggrandfather Thomas MORTON b. 14 Nov 1819 and registered in the Loudon Parish. He married Janet/Jessie WOODBURN on 4 Jun 1842 in same Parish. I know of two children James & William, but have recently been told there were others. William was killed in a horse accident aged 19 years and James went on to marry and have issue of 9. I am willing to share my research and looking for others with an interest in this family who arrived in South Australia Nov. 1847.

I am looking for information on ancestors or descendants of Samuel Chapman and Helen Findlay who were married in Loudoun in 1806. Samuel came from Ireland and Helen was born in Galston. They had at least 7 children that I think were born in Darvel. The family appear on the 1841 census in Larkhall. Helen died before 1851. Samuel married Mary Ann Smith in 1853 in Camlachie, Glasgow and died in Springburn, Glasgow in 1867.

James Blackwood (c. Sep 1739 in Dunlop Parish) married Martha Stevenson or Stinson (c. Oct 1728 also of Dunlop Parish). I belive James' parents were Thomas Blackwood and Sarah Stell, and Martha's parents were Robert Stevenson and Ann Spier.
I wish to obtain more history of the Blackwoods in Dunlop Parish. My family has a tradition that all boys must include either James or Blackwood as a part of their name. My Great Grand Mother was a Janet Blackwood born Beith 1850 married James Wotherspoon and emmigrated to New Zealand.

My Great Grandfather,Peter Gemmill WRIGHT,(b.1839.)(12 children NZ) and his younger brother,Thomas WRIGHT,(5 sons NZ) immigratedto South Otago, New Zealand 1860c.
I have a considerable amount of information on the New Zealand lines but I would like to complete the Tree as much as possible before putting it into print.
This family of WRIGHT farmed at Warnockland for around 4generations.

My gggrandfather John REId was born in FENWICK circa 1815. He married Mary Barclay at High Parish PAISLEY in 1845. John REID was a miller and the family lived at MONTGRENNAN before migrating to Tasmania (Australia)circa 1856 with children William REID, Janet REID and Elizabthe REID (Elizabeth died on the voyage). John REID's father was said to be a miller at Rowallan Mill. I have a booklet 'Annals of Fenwick' which lists a John REID as signatory to a petition regarding the Corn Laws. I am searching for any information regarding James Findlay, born 22 January 1836 & Margaret Paton, born in 1840, the daughter of John Paton and Margaret Morton, both from Kilmarnock. James' parents were Charles Findlay (born in 1792) & Jean Lemont or Limont, who married in Dreghorn, Ayrshire, Scotland, on 7 April 1821. They had 7 children:- 1) - Jean Findlay, born 12 May 1822, 2) - John Findlay, born 30 April 1824, 3) - Robert Findlay, born 7 June 1826, 4) - Charles Findlay, born 25 July 1828, 5) - Margaret Findlay, born 10 February 1831, 6) - Mary Findlay, born 13 May 1833, 7) - James Findlay, born 22 January 1836, died 8.11.1917. All were born in the Parish of Fenwick, Strathclyde, Scotland. Following their marriage in Kilmarnock in 1862, James & Margaret immigrated the same year to New Zealand on the ship "The Grassmere". Brothers John and Charles Findlay, had already come to New Zealand and were farming at North Taieri, Dunedin, where they were joined by James in 1862. Do you have any of the above names in your Family Tree?
