Thomas Woods, Mary Delaney
- Dundee
My ggg-grandfather was Thomas Woods. He was born in 1799 or 1800 in "Dundee, Ireland"--North. (My grandmother's writing--I've since learned that Dundee is in Scotland). He attended Trinity College in Dublin. From Ireland, he eloped with "Mary Delaney" to America.
One of them was Catholic--the other Protestant; they hoped to find more religious tolerance in the States.
I know nothing about their families, but would love to find them. If anyone has any clues or advice, I'd be extremely grateful!

William Guild 1859-?

Looking for ancestry and relatives to William Guild born 1859 +/- 1 in Dundee, married to Ann Clark from Tibbermore, Perth, born 1857; children all born in Dundee Helen/Ellen Guild ~1884, Alexander Guild ~1886, and Ann Guild ~1887, who I think married Joseph Adkins in Brentford, MDX, in 1912, and became my son-in-laws great grandmother. William Guild appears in the 1891 census for Dundee but is gone in the 1901 census. Other names and places (I think) in the Scotland side of the family: Clark, Prain, Garvie, Barnet, Melldrum; Longforgan, Rhynd, Kinnoul, Strathmiglo, Caputh, and Forfar. David Turnbull, Dundee 1804
- Dundee
Our ancestor, David Turnbull was a ship's carpenter, born in Dundee in 1804. He married there in 1823, and several of his children were born there between 1824 & 1839. I have had no luck tracing the family back before his time. I suspect his father was a David and his mother an Ellen or a Helen, possibly surnamed Pullar- this is only a hunch.
The family moved to Edinburgh & then Northumberland in the 1840s.
There was talk of a younger brother, John, a ship's captain, who fled the country after accidentally throwing a man overboard in a rage.
Later (1850s) the family changed their surname to Stewart, however, David's wife Isabella, was as Stewart, from Alyth, Perthshire.
