Peter, surname - Peterhead
I am looking for Peter family. My oldest information is that George built the new school in Aberdeenshire, his wife was a roving singer before marriage and midwife after. Oldest confirmed documentation is the marriage of George (Andrew) Peter to Margaret Center, Montquhitter 1842-6. they had 12-14 children and sailed to the USA(1870) with 5-7 of the children and settled in San Fransisco with Margaret's brother John Center. George's father may have been named Alexander or Andrew. Letters indicate he came from Peterhead. A note in a book (1858) says "McNabb??" and " we are kin to Rob Roy Macgrigor"
don't know who wrote them or the truth of it.

He was also instrumental in saving sections of the mission district with his water wells during the 1906 earthquake.

Seeking Leask/Smith - Stoneywood
We are seeking some info in our family history. A Mrs Leask formerly lived at 138 Bankhead Road, Stoneywood, Aberdeen back in the 1920 or 1930s. She was related, we think, to Willie Smith a famous Olympic gold medallist and later a professional boxer from South Africa. He visited Mrs Leask at that address in the 1920s on a professional tour of Britain. Willie's father William Smith was born in the Aberdeen region.
Many thanks,
Bill

Forrest, Murker, Duguid
- Tarves
According to parish records, George Duguid had a son, Patrick, who was christened on 16 Dec 1736, at Tarves. Although not proven to be the same person, a Patrick Duguid had a daughter, Margaret Duguid, who was christened on 24 Mar 1771, at Old Meldrum. I believe she may have been the same Margaret Duguid who married Peter Murker on 27 Jun 1792, at Tarves. Their daughter, Margaret Murker (b.6 Jun 1793) m. Thomas Forrest (b.5 Jan 1790) at Belhelvie on 29 Nov 1817. Both were born at Tarves, as were their six children: Thomas (b.19 Sep 1818), Elspet (b.20 Jul 1821), Barbara (b.3 May 1823), Margaret (b.2 Sep 1825), Patrick (b.9 Jan 1829), and Hellen (b.28 Jun 1833). Thomas Forrest's daughter Margaret was my paternal g-grandmother. Her full name was Margaret Duguid Forrest. In 1835, when penning the names of his children in the family Bible, Thomas Sr. noted the family residence as "Lochtowne of Kithfield" (sic) which, I presume, was a neighborhood within Keithfield, Tarves. The 1841 Census enumerates him as an agricultural laborer. I would welcome contact from my cousins who share this ancestry.
