George Noble - Fraserburgh
I am trying to trace our family history the following is information I have so far. George Noble was born on 27th September 1861 at Braeheads in Fraserburgh. His father was a seaman in the merchant navy, George Noble and his mother Mary Milne. They had married in Aberdeen in March 1860. By the age of 24, George was a Cooper by trade when he met and married 18 year old Jeannie Aimer Stark Walker. The marriage took place on the last day of 1885 at Strichen, where Jeannie lived with her parents Alexander Walker, a road contractor and mother Margaret Smith. Jeannie had been born further North at Elgin, Morayshire on 5th May 1867. George and Jeannie had a son Charles Crawford Noble born on 31st January 1887 at North Street Fraserburgh. They had two more children in New Zealand George Noble was born in 1908 and Alexander Walker Noble was born in 1910. Charles Crawford died in 1915 at Gallipolli, George died in 1976 and Alex died in 1936. I have alot of the family history for our history in New Zealand but would like further information for Fraserburgh I am guessing that George wasn't an only son. Same for Jeannie being an only daughter. If anyone can help we would be very grateful.

Nobles x Broadsea - Fraserburgh
Has anyone got connections to Broadsea, Fraserburgh. My grandfather was Wilson Noble b 1881, he married Rachael Cardno, they had 4 children. He owned the Wilson Noble boatbuilding yard in the Balaclava Basin, Fraserburgh that closed down in 1959.
Wilson's parents: Alexander Noble 1858-1924, he married Elizabeth Noble 1860 - 1918. They had 8 children, Wilson, Elizabeth, Alexander, Ann, Jane, James, Charles & Magdalene. James & Charles were also boat builders in Fraserburgh.
Wilson parents: Alexander Noble (Cockie) 1833-1915, married Betty Crawford 1837-1885.
Elizabeth's parents: Wilson Noble & Ann Noble.
It gets very complicated with Nobles marrying Noble.
Love to hear from anyone with connections to any of the above, or who think they are connected to the Nobles from Broadsea.
I was born in The Broch, now living down under.
Regards
Maureen

Porter-Duncan families - Fyvie
I'm looking for descendents of David Porter and Mary Pratt, their 6 or 7 children born in the 1840's or 1850's. Particularly looking for info on any children of Mary Ann Porter (1845-1880) and Robert Duncan. I suspect that most of the siblings of David Porter emigrated, as he did, but know that Mary Ann stayed at Fyvie. I'm also wondering how many cemeteries there are at Fyvie, as I haven't found a record of Porter families even though they supposedly lived in the area for 150 years.

Sim - Gourdas Farm - Fyvie
The Sims of Gourdas were a well known, indeed famous in some circles, Fyvie family. They farmed at Gourdas, Fyvie between 1790's and 1916. One of them developed the "Duke of York" Potato and they were involved in and well known for plant breeding, photography and the natural history of the area. There is a really good book about the family (published by Aberdeen & N.E. Scotland FHS) which gives not only their history but a great description of life in Fyvie during the 18th and 19th centuries. One of the Sims daughters was my g.g.g.grandmother marrying John Clark of next door Stonemanhill Farm so the book gave me a great insight into the type of people there were in Fyvie at the time and their qualities were evident also in the good men that were my late grandfather and father. Well worth a read.
