Looking to extend and find the 'missing links' on my paternal grandfathers line. My fathers grandfather George Towler b.1864 at Millbrex was the illegitimate son of Elspet Towler (domestic servant), he became a blacksmith and married Jane Ann Reid in 1891 in Aberdeen, he died 1918. George & Jane had at least 9 children, one being Maggie (Margaret) my fathers mother. Aberdeen: Still, Ross, Smith, Porter, Mullin, Pryde, Kesson
- Aberdeen
Looking for families who may be related through any of the above surnames. William Ross c1762 married Mary Still (born 1764) in Aug 1783. Both were born in Aberdeen, Scotland. They had a son George Ross c.1798 Aberdeen. George married Helen Smith (born c1807) in Feb 1832 in Old Machar, Aberdeen. they had a son George Ross as well - born Apr 1836 Aberdeen. he married Jane Porter (born Nov 1841 Aberdeen) in Sept 1859 at St Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen.
Peter Smith married Elizabeth (maiden surname unknown) in July 1806 at St Nicholas Church, Aberdeen. Helen Smith c1807 (mentioned above) was their daughter.
Hugh Porter born c1790 (parents Samuel Porter and Ann Mullin) married Ann Pryde born c1811 some time after 1830 (Ann's mother was Jane Kesson born c1770, died 1850 Bervie, Kincardine, Scotland and Ann's father's surname was Pryde/Pride/Praede, but his first name and birth and death are unknown).
Hugh, it appears had been married previously and he was born in Ireland, so whether his first wife had died before he went to Aberdeen around the age of 40 or so is unknown or if he had any children from that marriage.
Hugh and Ann had 5 children that I know of: William 1830, Alexander c. 1836, Jane 1841 (my gg grandmother noted above as marrying George Ross in 1859), Charles c.1846, and Maria c.1850 - all born Aberdeen. Jane and George later migrated to Australia with several children. Would love to hear from anyone with even a remote possibility of a connection.

Forrest, Murker, Duguid
- Belhelvie
According to parish records, George Duguid had a son, Patrick, who was christened at Tarves on 16 Dec 1736. Although not proven to be the same person, a Patrick Duguid had a daughter, Margaret Duguid, who was christened on 24 Mar 1771, at Old Meldrum. I believe she may have been the same Margaret Duguid who married Peter Murker on 27 Jun 1792, at Tarves. Their daughter, Margaret Murker (b.6 Jun 1793) m. Thomas Forrest (b.5 Jan 1790) at Belhelvie on 29 Nov 1817. Both were born at Tarves, as were their six children: Thomas (b.19 Sep 1818), Elspet (b.20 Jul 1821), Barbara (b.3 May 1823), Margaret (b.2 Sep 1825), Patrick (b. 9 Jan 1829), and Hellen (b. 28 Jun 1833). Thomas Forrest's daughter Margaret was my paternal g-grandmother. Her full name was Margaret Duguid Forrest. In 1835, when penning the births of his children in the family Bible, Thomas Sr. noted the family residence as "Lochtowne of Kithfield" (sic) which, I presume, was a neighborhood within Keithfield, Tarves. The 1841 Census enumerates him as an agricultural laborer. I would welcome contact from my cousins who share this ancestry.
