Thompson - Aberdeen
I'm looking for info on my G Grandfather and his family. George Arthur Thompson was born in Ryde (Isle of Wight)in 1876, son of John William Thompson (born Cowes 1838) and Maria Stout (born Wimborne Dorset). The family were in Ryde in 1861 and 71 and all but John were still there in 1881. (John appears to still be living though, as Maria is shown as being married). All appear to be missing from the 1891 English census. Family info leads me to believe they may have moved to the Aberdeen or Glasgow area. Both John and George were hairdressers/barbers. George appears again in London in 1901. Can anyone help with the Scotish connection please?

CORBET, CORBETT, CHALMERS - Aberdeen
I am researching Peter Corbet(t) bn 1811, son of James Corbett and Jane Stewart, in Aberdeen. He seems to have had a number of wives or partners, the first of whom was Jane Chalmers (my ggg-grandmother). They m 10 Apr 1830 and my gg-grandmother Jane was bn abt 1836. However, by 1851 he was with a lady called Christian (Corbett) and a number of children, at least one of whom had been bn in London to Peter and a Jane McDonald. In 1856 he married Elizabeth Blenheim who died in Feb 1864 and then he married Maria Black in Mar 1864. Maria survived him but his death record only shows 3 wives and the name of the first is wrongly given as Jane Cormack not Jane Chalmers. Jane Cormack was his daughter's married name. This record also gives his parents' names wrongly. Does anyone have any more info on Peter - where was he in 1841? In London? Why did his occupation change between a quarryman or stone dresser (in 1831, 1856 and after 1871) and a boot or shoemaker (1844 and 1861, 1862 1nd 1863)? Any help would be great.
