Tillicoultry
- Clackmannan
James Carmichael was born either on the 13 09 1911 or 11 09 1913. Unfortunately James couldn't never quite remember the exact date as he was orphaned at a very young age.
He actually went through life thinking he was born in 1913 and was extremely surprised when he received the paperwork for his impending retirement stating he was born in 1911. He had five elder sibblings three sisters and two brothers. Their mother died when James was five, all the children were looked after by relatives until their father died shortly after and were placed in an orphanage. When James left the orphanage he become a sheppard and worked and lived in the mountains until he joined the Royal Scots Grey and moved down South where he meet and married Barbara Mary Smith.
I know that the above info is a bit sparse, but James never spoke about his child hood mainly because he didn't like to reminise, but info if there is any would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Hall who went to live in Wales
- Clackmannan
Hi. we're looking for any Hall/s who went to live in Wales, specifically Aberystwyth, in the mid to late 1700s. We have a Sarah Hall, born Aber around 1799, but family wisdom has her ancestors as being from Clackmannan. Her son was Edward Hall, 1825-1901, a mariner, born, bred and died in Aberyswyth. Any info gratefully recieved, or any reasons why people left Clackmannan around that time; was there a decline in jobs, any large exoduses?
Cheers,
Leonie

Looking for roots
- Devon Village
I live in Bethany, Connecticut, USA. I have recently begun a search for "The Cousens Family" in an attempt to trace my family roots back as far as may be possible. I found your name on an internet search and thought I'd bother you to ask if possibly we may be relatives! My roots also trace back to prince Edward Island.
My Father is George Chauncey Cousens, formally of Waltham, Massachusetts. George Cousens father was Doctor Nicholas William Cousens, born on a farm just outside of Charlotterown, Prince Edward Island. Nicholas Cousens was one of a large family. The only name I have of his siblings is Samuel Cousens who lived all his life on the farm in PEI. Samual died some time around the late 1950's.
Would it be possible that you would have any reference to the Cousens of Charlottetown PEI?
I'd love to hear from you if you could spare a moment to return a note!

An Elizabeth Walker was living close to the Lawries in 1841, but she would have been too young to marry in January 1845 (age on 1841 census is 10). The age may be inaccurate.
