Patrick Walsh and Bridget O'Loughlin - County Tipperary, Tiobraid Arann, TIP, (Province of Munster, Mumhain)
Both were born circa 1830 in 'Tipperary' and thought to have married there circa 1855. They emigrated to South Australia, again circa 1855, took up land holding in the Lower Broughton area of that state and had nine children...five girls and four boys. All but one boy survived infancy and two of their daughters predeceased both parents.Patrick died in 1913 at age 83 years and Bridget in 1916 at 86 years. James Moylan from Tipperary to Cincinnati Ohio - County Tipperary, Tiobraid Arann, TIP, (Province of Munster, Mumhain)
I am wondering if anyone out there may have a connection to a certain James Moylan who must be a Moylan relative to myself as he is resting in my Fanning family plot in Cincinnati, Ohio. The burial record for James Moylan indicates he was at the time of his death which was around June 21, 1870 as being 22 years old which would give an approximate birth year of 1848, give or take a year. His place of death being 105 East 3rd Avenue in Cincinnati. The parents of James Moylan being a certain John and Sarah Moylan. My great, great grandmother is Margaret Moylan who was married to Bartholomew Fanning. Since James Moylan is resting in our family plot, I figure that James is a either brother, cousin or nephew to my great, great grandmother. The death record indicates James was born in Tipperary. Another interesting tidbit is that the 1867 Cincinnati Directory indicates James as working at my Fanning family's grocery store in Cincinnati. Still trying to discover an actual village in County Tipperary where James Moylan originated. Wherever he is found, I am certain my great, great grandmother Margaret Moylan cannot be far behind.

My Home - Ardfinnan, Ard Fhionain, and Parish
The village of Ardfinnan, population approximately 2000, in County Tipperary ,is situated seven miles west of Clonmel.( Irelands largest inland town).Overlooking the village is the magnificent Castle built in 1185 by John Earl of Morton who later became King John. The village of Ardfinnan was once a very important place as it commanded a ford over the river Suir which was one of the few crossing places on the river during the flood season. Now a magnificent Bridge of some fourteen arches spans the river overlooked by the Castle.Ardfinnan derives it's name from Saint Finnan who founded a monistary and brought weaving to the area which continued up to 1971 when it was forced to cease operations as their was a decline for its goods due to recession.Today we have two factories in its place, one producing insulation for the building industry and the other produces paper bags for many different uses. The village is a picturesque setting with a green at it,s centre ,a beautifull wood as a back drop with the weir and river at its centre, village life consists of it,s many clubs which cater for both young and old and is perhaps one of the best places to live and work as the pase of life is carefree and pleasant(a little piece of Heaven you might say).

O'Brien (Brien) - Ballyporeen, Beal Atha Poirin
My g'g'gr'father Thomas O'Brien was a farmer in Tipperary and married Margaret Pyne (Pine or Payne) - 3 known sons John (born Ballyporeen 1822 m Johannah Meagher (Maher) Came Aust c 1880 Died Gympie Qld Aust 1909 (7 ch); Dennis(Dinny) born Ballyporeen 1828 arrived Maryborough Qld 1858 (few years in Rockhampton) - m Anne St Ledger 1872 (4 ch incl my gr'father John William) died M'boro 1911; Maurice born Ballyporeen 1838 - came Aust with Dennis m Mary Heavey 1875 (11 or 12 ch)d M'boro 1893. It is possible that Thomas had a brother Michael who married Mary Hyland and had 10 ch - all listed as born Knocknagopple between 1826 & 1845, roughly same time frame as ch of Thomas & Margaret. 2 definite relatives of our family seem to match 2 of these children Michael b 1836 and Maurice b 1833. These both came to Aust. There is another branch through Alice O'Brien m Michael O'Donnell. Alice is possibly a sister or cousin of Thomas, definitely connected. Michael lived in a castle and lived to 100+ yrs. Their dau Catherine m Thomas Caplice who died young and Michael helped rear the g'children.
I am visiting Ireland in June and am very keen to connect with any relatives or others in Ballyporeen who may know more of this family. I am also seeking others pursuing this family tree.
Mary, Aust
