MOYLES/James and Mary m/s DEVINE
- County Mayo, Maigh Eo, (Province of Connaught, Connacht)
Hi all I'm totally new to this "posting a message" so please forgive me if I get it wrong!!
I would appreciate any help in tracing any relatives of either my grandfather JAMES MOYLES born County Mayo around 1853 and my grandmother MARY MOYLES m/s DEVINE also born County Mayo around 1857. I have managed to track down my grandmother's death certificate and from that it shows her parents as PATRICK DEVINE, Farmer and ELLEN DEVINE m/s BROWN.
James and Mary were married in County Mayo and as yet I have been unable to track down their Marriage Certificate and would appreciate help in pointing me in the right direction as to where I may obtain a copy. I'm housebound and based in Scotland and unfortunately the Irish Registry Office unlike Scotland does not appear to have search facilities online.
James and Mary had 7 children, five of whom I believe were also born in County Mayo, MARIA (b.1882), MICHAEL (b.1883), PATRICK (b.1887), JAMES (b.1982) and FRANK (b.1893). Their other two children THOMAS (b.1897)(my father) and MARGARET ELLEN (b.1900) were registered as born in Dewsbury, England and from the 1901 Census they were all registered as living at 161 South Street, Ossett, Yorkshire along with 3 boarders who also came from COUNTY MAYO, namely, THOMAS MURTY (b.1853), JAMES MURTY (b.1884) and PATRICK TOMLIN (b. 1877). The working members of the family were employed on the railway construction and I understand my grandfather James was killed on a train heading to Scotland. I have checked all the registers here in Scotland and can find no trace of his death recorded here therefore I can only assume it is registered somewhere in England and I am at present trying to track this down.
Early 1900s saw the family move to Scotland and work in the pits. Most of the family moved to Lumphinnans in Fife and settled there. My grandmother Mary Moyles died in 1924 and sad to say all of their children have also passed on. There are however still a number of the MOYLES family, myself included living in and around Fife.
From the above can anyone remember either JAMES or MARY MOYLES m/s DEVINE? Did James or Mary have any siblings? Any history of where in County Mayo they were raised, their parentage, their mates would be greatly appreciated.
My health decrees that my time is limited in this search and the information I am seeking is something I have on my "wish list" so folks it's over to you now - can anyone help me fulfill my wish???

John Gilbert - Ballina Co Mayo
- Ballina, Beal An Atha
My Gt Grandparents, John Cannon and Mary Jane Gilbert (nee Vogan) are listed in 1911 census as living in Belfast. John Cannon Gilbert was born in 1861/62 (est), in Co Cork. On Marriage Cert 1889 (Belfast) his father is stated as John, a teacher. I suspect his name was John Sheridan Gilbert but don't have the link yet. I believe John (snr) was a teacher in Ballina, Co Mayo. In the 1881 directory of Ballina there is a John Gilbert listed as a clasical teacher. I need help in finding John (jnr) birth cert and any other info on John (snr) the teacher and where he taught (I suspect, in Belfast, Co Cork, and Ballina Co Mayo, but have no evidence for this). Any help appreciated.
Thanks
