Randall's Salisbury and district circa 1900
- Salisbury
I am trying to trace my family connections in Salisbury, Wiltshire. My grandfather moved to London, or was born there probably about 1885. His name was Bertrand Randall, he married a Mary Giddy early 1900s. There was no communication with the Wiltshire Randalls after this move. But my father experienced something very strange during the second world war (40 odd years later), when passing through Salisbury, in the army, he and some mates visited a pub and my father was told after ordering his drink I dont want payment, we never take money from a Randall and this without the barman knowing his name! From this I assume that the family that must have been fairly well known. The only other clue is that the 1940s comedian Frank Randle was supposed to be related.

Her parents, brothers and sister were all living together at 11 St Martin's Church Street, Salisbury, but she was not with them. I have searched exhaustively to try to cover enumerater or transcription error, but still cannot find her. There is a strong possibility that she was in domestic service somewhere.
