The Malhamdale Local History Group are currently undertaking a project to bring together more information about this generous local and national benefactor, who was particularly active in supporting the Arts and Education. |Solomon Patchett - (Manningham - Yorkshire, West Riding)
Looking for parents of Solomon Patchett. He was born in 1846 or 1947 in Manningham, but shows on the 1851 census as a 4 year old, living with his aunt and uncle, John & Ellen Clapham. There are lots of genealogies out there that list Timothy as his father, but this is just not possible given the census information. It appears that Solomon may have been orphaned at a very young age, before the 1851 census, leaving me with a dead end for his parents. If you have any insight, please share.

|missing great-great-grandfather - (Manningham - Yorkshire, West Riding)
Hi there. I am trying to find information on my great-great-grandfather, Joseph Ackroyd. The information I have is a bit sketchy but I'm fairly sure he was born around 1828 in the Yorkshire area (Manningham perhaps). He married someone named Susannah Hodgson (from Allerton, we think) somewhere in the mid 1800's because my great-grandfather (also named Joseph Ackroyd) was born around 1851 (almost certainly in Ontario, Canada). By any chance, do you have any information about this Joseph Ackroyd? If so, I'd really appreciated it if you could fill in a few blank spaces for me. Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks so much.
